The KOA Kings Dominion Campground is THE official campground for the Kings Dominion amusement park.
It is located a short drive from the park entrance, but if you don’t want to drive, no worries. The campground offers a free shuttle service to the park!
Kings Dominion Campground Layout
The layout of the campground goes something like this…
The main hub or what I like to call the “fun hub” is located at the front of the park. Just about everything is there: the camp store, the pool, a bathroom, a playground, outdoor checkers, volley ball court, basketball ball goal, ping pong, and laundry mat.
The camp store has a main door and a door that leads out to the pool. An ice cream counter can be found right beside the door that leads to the pool. We loved grabbing ice cream while we chilled by the pool.
The interior of the store was surprisingly different than most camp stores. One side of the store was a lounge area complete with a stone fireplace, high ceilings, and cozy couches. Giant connect four stood in front of the fireplace.
Other Amenities at the Kings Dominion Campground
Most of the “fun” was located at that one hub. The park did also have a nice and private pet playground in the back corner of the park. Scribbles loved running free all over the playground.
The campground had a couple of other nice bathroom and shower houses throughout the campground. One of the bathrooms even has a dog wash station.
The Campsites
As for the sites, several types were available including:
- Cabins
- Elite patio/cable/concrete pad
- Super site
- Premium cable site
- Water electric sewer
- Water electric
- Primitive tent
- Deluxe tent
So as you can see, lots of campsite options are available.
My Overall Take on the Kings Dominion Campground
The campsites were close to each other but we had plenty of room to set up. This campground was set up for people who want to go to the amusement park and maybe play at the main hub. It’s not a “build a campfire in nature” type of campground.
